DOC IV

I've been diagnosed with reactive arthritis. Accordingly to the specialist, this is caused by my recurrent UTI. The body immune system is now reacting in the presence of bacteria and therefore causing swelling & inflammation of my joints. Fortunately, this condition is chronic and can be treated. Though it scares me when I read that some patients take up to 6 months to recover.

I really hope that I will take under 6 months to be up and running.
Now even climbing up & down the stairs seem to be like conquering Mount Everest. Some days, I can't even feel my limbs and am suffering with pain.

WANTED

THIS BOY IS WANTED FOR HOLDING THE HANDS OF MY DAUGHTER!!!

DOC III

I made time to ring my gf, Mdm Quek today and had a nice chat with her catching up on our families, our health, our experiences.

As I shared with her regarding the pain I'm constantly experiencing, she encouraged me to go to the doc for another review and get a proper diagnosis for my health. (As I'm typing and updating my blog, my knee caps are burning with pain.) I'm glad I heeded her advise and got a referral to a specialist. I understand he's a well-known consultant in this field. I will see him tomorrow morning for another thorough checkup.

I spent the rest of my afternoon over lunch, shopping & coffee with another gf, Ms Diva R. She listened patiently to all my complains and pains. After the afternoon outing, I really felt better. I think chatting with my close friends help to heal my pain and suffering.

Journey into the Enchanted Jungle

28 Oct 07, Sun

We decided to spend our Sunday afternoon hiking into Bukit Timah nature reserve. The little one wanted to visit Bambi in the jungle. We hiked for 4-5km, taking around 1.5hrs. Along the way, we enjoyed the greens, looking out for animals (we spotted squrriels, monkeys and different types of lizards and birds). But sorry, no Bambi though. It was extremely cloudy weather and as we were hiking towards the golf course, we heard the storm alert.

Fortunately, we managed to walk out towards Thomson Plaza without meeting the storm. The storm arrived only after we had a drink, nice chicken pies and when we got into the taxi. If only we're so lucky when we purchase lottery or TOTO...

Work In Progress & Completed Artwork

8 Nov 07 - Finally completed my artwork. I love the rainbow & the after rain effect in the sky. Makes me think of rainy season, cool weather, Christmas & putting on black stockings in Singapore. November is one of my favorite months of the year. Maybe because I was born in November or perhaps it makes me think of holidays.

The Raffles Hotel Iconic Doorman

In 1992, we were commissioned to produce a collage artwork for our o-levels art examination. One afternoon, armed with a camera, we went around the streets of Singapore snapping photos of our local scene. I can never forget the day - while taking photos, I was also cursed by ah-mas (who hated having their photos taken due to supersitious reasons). But my girlfriends and I had fun. We even took the opportunity to relax at the Raffles Hotel.

I believe I had 36 photos to select from and my art teacher picked this photo for me to work on. The photo was enlarged and then photocopied to A3 size. Using a carbon paper, I traced the image onto a wooden board and painstaking using bits of magazines and glue to form the collage as close as possible to the photo.

I remembered I spent many nights glued to my little stool, and working on this artwork till wee hours of the morning. Often I was chatting with my friend over the phone as well. MOTH was my regular phonepal. I enjoyed chatting with him while working on my artwork. (But guess what, we never turned our friendship into a relationship)...

My mother kept this artwork for me. Finally, I brought it home. HOME... long time ago, it seems like an impossible dream and wish. It has now been framed and will be mounted on the wall by the man who kept me company during those long nights 15 years ago.

Interestingly, I found an article regarding the iconic doorman. He has aged too (but gracefully)... http://www.raffles.com/rafflesworld/news_05.html
